Training
   
The Club training programme runs throughout the late spring and summer months with the aim of helping handlers train their dogs to work under control in the shooting field. Separate classes are held for puppies, novice retrievers and novice spaniels recognising that their training needs, particularly at the more advanced stages, are somewhat different.
 

Handlers interested in joining our training programme are invited to an afternoon seminar in early April. We have a speaker on an interesting aspect of gundog management, provide more information on the summer training and sign up those who wish to join the programme.
   

We sometimes enlist outside trainers to help with specialist elements of the programme and to bring another perspective to training. Although the fundamentals of gundog training are held in common amongst trainers, everyone does things a little differently and dogs may respond positively to another approach. We believe that we can always learn from each other.
 

The Club carries a stock of training equipment, including dummies, leads and whistles which can be viewed under the Sales Portion of the Site.
